Hemp may have been the earliest cultivated plant in East Asia where it is native. Historians have found traces dating back 8000BC for textile use. It travelled through the ancient world rapidly in popularity for textiles, food, religious & ceremonial use.

The endocannabinoid system was discovered and mapped out by multiple scientists during the late 1980s-1990's. The endocannabinoid receptors consist or receptors (CB1, CB2, TRPV1, PPAR Receptors) in our body throughout the brain, organs, connective tissues, glands, and immune cells. These receptors are how CBD are able to assist with a variety of skin issues such as sensitivity, redness, blemishes, oil regulation, antioxidant and other skin benefits. Researchers have conducted many studies on a variety of potential benefits, which can be found online.
Around 2700 BCE the plant was being mentioned in Chinese medicine by Emperor Shen Nung, also known as the father of Chinese medicine. It is believed that many ancient civilizations used it for medicinal properties.
Around 1500BC in Egypt, the first recording of the plant being used in skincare. It was mixed with soothing balms and other ointments to help with skin issues. India also mentioned use of cannabis for inflammation and antiseptic properties.
